Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering was established by virtue of decree no 293 of 2003 published in the official gazette on 18 August 2003 which officially decreed the founding of the University of Kalamoon. Further, the minister of higher education issued decision no. 1 on 29 September 2003 authorizing the establishment of the Faculty. It comprises three academic departments supported by a number of modern laboratories.

 
Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty’s mission is to graduate outstanding engineers equipped with the academic and practical capabilities necessary for the development of the public and private sectors and provide them with highly qualified staff with outstanding proficiency.

IT and communication engineering are developing rapidly causing fluctuation in labor market needs. Hence, the Faculty is keen on taking this into consideration in its syllabus as well as the practical activities associated with its academic mission.

 
Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering comprises the following departments:

1- Information Technology Engineering

2- Communications and Electronic Engineering

3- Computer Engineering

4- Architecture

In addition, the Faculty aspires to open the following departments in the future:

· Industrial Engineering

· Civil Engineering

·  Renewable Energy Engineering

· Environmental Engineering

 
Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering has set a number of goals in order to fulfill its mission:

1- qualifying engineers in different specializations and quipping them with outstanding knowledge to keep up with the latest scientific and technical advancement

2- qualifying graduates capable of meeting the actual needs of society

3- preparing academic and practical research and studies aiming at solving technical problems and contributing to the country’s social and economic development

4- offering consultancy and studies services to public and private institutions to help them solve the problems and issues they face

5- offering capacity building services to public and private institutions in order to improve the staff performance and productivity

6- contributing to the development of scientific production and of teaching tools and methodologies as well as encouraging academic and technical publications aiming at upgrading knowledge tools for the students and the society

7- establishing scientific laboratories which conduct outstanding scientific and practical research, encouraging outstanding researchers and urging them to involve students and enabling them to work in research environments and to use research tools and methodologies

8- putting students in an integrated and enabling environment which allows them to develop their personality in a balanced manner in academic, social and emotional terms ultimately qualifying them to be productive professionals and good team players

9- developing students’ communication skills to enable them to communicate their ideas to others as well as understand and positively interact with other points of view

10- offering academic guidance and advice for the best interest of students to help them achieve the highest academic standards

11- promoting cultural and academic links with Syrian, Arab and international universities to exchange academic experiences and work on joint researches and studies

12- promoting the students’ sense of national identity and upholding public interest

13- achieving the highest level of interaction between the University and the community

 
Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering grants its graduates any of the following degrees:

-  Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

-  Bachelor of Science in Communications and Electronic Engineering

-  Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

-  Bachelor of Science in Architecture

To obtain a BSc. in Engineering, students must complete 5 years of study at the Faculty. This entails that the student successfully completes /168/ credit hours to obtain a BSc. in the relevant specialization.
