Credit Hour System

The University of Kalamoon adapts the credit hour system in its teaching system and student performance evaluation due to its flexibility and continued evaluation on all years of study.

The credit hour system is one of the best higher education systems adopted by elite universities in the world, and The University of Kalamoon it adopted this system from the beginning, and was the first university to apply it in Syria since it seeks to occupy an advanced position in university rankings.

This system proved successful in application, as it gives the student the freedom and flexibility to choose the courses for each semester or year according to his circumstances.

According to the credit hour system, the academic year consists of three semesters:

1- Fall semester (first)

2- Spring semester (second)

3- Summer semester (optional and non-binding for students).

Each of the first and second semesters consists of (sixteen weeks)
The summer semester consists of eight weeks, thus doubling the number of hours taught per week.
The existence of the summer semester is important and of great benefit to students, as it enables them to avoid any failures or shortcomings that arise during their university studies, which helps them to graduate with their peers without delay

A credit hour is the basic unit of measuring what a student receives when studying in the course system.

It is equivalent to one hour of a theoretical session (lecture) or/and the practical session that the student receives for sixteen weeks in a semester. For example, a course is taught with two theoretical hours and two practical hours (laboratory) per week for (sixteen) weeks. The number of credit hours for this course is three credit hours, because every two practical hours are equivalent to one credit hour.

If the teaching is theoretical only, the number of theoretical hours per week is equal to the number of credit hours.
