The Ethical Charter of the UOK

The University of Kalamoon is a private educational institution that prepares its students scientifically, cognitively and ethically to serve the nation and society and contribute to its prosperity and progress.

In fulfilling its mission, the University is guided by an ethical charter that serves as a behavioral reference for students and staff in the performance of their respective tasks.

This charter is based on the belief that university work, in its various dimensions, does not represent a privilege or power for those who practice it, but rather the performance of a public service with great goals and a mission based on honesty, sincerity, responsibility and mutual respect.

The charter is based on a set of principles derived from the specific values of our society and our civilized environment, and from general human and ethical values, foremost of which is respect for human dignity, his person, his right to think, express and disagree with others, and his commitment to equal treatment with his peers without discrimination of any kind.

The university’s ethical charter includes a set of rules of behavior that members of the university community, including the administration, scientific and administrative staff, and students, are obliged to respect and abide by while carrying out their various activities.

These rules of behavior deal with general mandatory clauses for all members of the university community, and others specific to each of its components.

First – General Rules of Behavior:

All members of the university community are obligated to:

– Respect and abide by the laws and regulations governing work at the University of Kalamoon and the decisions issued by its specialized councils.

– Being loyal and devoted to the university as an institution, keen to improve its reputation, prioritize its general interest, ensure the safety of its facilities, property and equipment, and being committed to keeping confidential matters and information related to it.

– Ensure that relations with others are based on mutual respect and the right of everyone to believe in a different ideology, as long as they express it in a civilized manner away from sharpness, skill and offense.

– Perform work and tasks with honesty seriousness and sincerity.

Second: University administration:

In its dealings with members of the university community, the university administration is committed to:

-Openness to all scientific and administrative workers and students at the university, and allowing regular communication with them, in order to discuss the conditions of academic and administrative work in an atmosphere of free and meaningful dialogue, and with the aim of raising the level of work at the university in all its aspects.

-Adhering to the principles of justice and equality and determining the material and moral rights of workers according to their qualifications, experience, giving and need.

-Encouraging creativity and scientific research by providing the necessary requirements and encouraging rewards for those who do so, including faculty members and students.

-Respecting the rules, standards and procedures governing the work of the university, whether in the field of education and research or in the field of technical and administrative services.

-Continuously endeavor to ensure the transfer of knowledge and the localization of new technologies in order to continuously develop the administrative and scientific process at the university.

Third: Members of the teaching staff:

In their work and behavior, members of the teaching staff shall abide by the following rules:

– Emphasizing the spirit of cooperation and university work based on integrity and mutual respect for the rights of others, and avoiding personal issues and narrow affiliations.

– Emphasizing the spirit of brotherhood and fellowship among all members of the teaching staff, while respecting the rules of hierarchy and scientific and functional seniority.

– Mastering the educational courses that the member teaches, mastering their scientific content, striving to update their content on an ongoing basis, making sure to use the latest possible educational means, adhering to quality standards in determining the scientific level of these courses, and working with the approved description of these courses.

– Keeping abreast of scientific development and continuous interest in obtaining more knowledge and information in the field of scientific specialization, by seeking access to the latest references, research and studies in the field of specialization and all means of self-development.

– Commitment to scientific honesty and respect for the intellectual property rights of others in all his scientific production at the university and beyond.

– Respecting the principles of freedom in choosing research and teaching topics, and practicing them within the scope of university laws and obligations, the duties of the tasks entrusted to them, the regulations and study plans, the values of this ethical charter, and the rules of behavior specified in it.

– Staying away from any situation or adopting any position that would provoke material or moral side conflicts that harm the university’s higher interest.

– Paying attention to the activation of collective scientific research and encouraging teamwork.

– Commitment to objectivity in evaluating the scientific research of colleagues from inside and outside the university.

 – Embodying a good moral example in the behavior of faculty members with members of the university community, especially students, by demonstrating honesty, truthfulness, tolerance, and love.

– Providing academic support to students, encouraging them to conduct scientific research, motivating them to expand their knowledge culture in their field of specialization first, and different fields of science second, working to develop their spirit of creativity and innovation, and facilitating their access to sources of information while adhering to the rules and ethics of scientific research.

– Ensuring effective communication with students, dealing with them with friendliness and appreciation, urging them to be diligent, and providing academic and counseling assistance to them to overcome any issues they may face in their university life and their social environment.

– Treating all students on the basis of equality, fairness, and equal opportunities, away from any subjective considerations.

– Encourage students to exchange scientific and social opinions and ideas, independent and responsible thinking, rational judgment, and opinion while adhering to the etiquette of dialogue, and avoid seeking to impose personal visions and viewpoints on others.

– Respecting teaching times and employing them well, in a way that achieves the greatest possible benefit for students.

– Commitment to integrity, objectivity and transparency in managing the scientific evaluation process of students, especially in the field of exams and research.

-Paying attention to developing human relations with members of the university community, especially on social occasions.

– Initiating all possible proposals that would improve the reputation of the university and develop the academic and administrative work in it.

– Positive and effective participation in the various university activities and in the meetings of university councils and committees that he is invited to attend.

– Addressing public issues impartially, prioritizing the university’s interest over personal interests, and committing not to harm the reputation of the university and its policies for personal gain.

– Compliance of the minority with the opinions of the majority in the competent university councils and committees, commitment to implement them, and defense of them.

– Commitment not to exploit work and university position for personal gain.

– Refrain from accepting gifts and donations under any name whatsoever.

– Respect the traditions and customs of the local environment in behavior and social relations.

– Contribute, within the limits of what is possible, to the development of the local environment and society by providing ideas and proposals that help solve some of the current issues.

Fourth: Students:

University students shall abide by the following rules in their behavior:

– Adhering to the duty of respect and appreciation for the members of the educational and administrative staff, and dealing with colleagues in a spirit of love, affection and cooperation.

– Paying attention to fulfilling the obligations of the learning process, such as attending theoretical lectures and practical lessons, taking exams,

and completing research and studies within the specified dates, with all seriousness and proficiency while adhering to the ethics of scientific research.

– Contribute effectively to the various scientific, cultural, social and sporting activities that are held at the university, or with its participation, or under its auspices.

– Refrain, within the university campus, from doing any work or activity that would disturb the atmosphere of healthy university life and the optimal conduct of educational work.

– Take care of the university buildings, facilities, furniture, equipment and cleanliness to maintain its civilized appearance.

  1. Members of the Administrative Staff

Administrative workers at the university are bound by the following rules of behavior:

– Perform the duties of the work entrusted to them with honesty and perfection, and carry them out as quickly as possible, within the limits of the regulations and instructions in force.

– Ensure that they provide services to the persons concerned with their work, including members of the educational and administrative bodies, students and auditors, easily and conveniently within the limits of the regulations in force.

Commitment not to exploit the job position to achieve financial benefits or to achieve personal goals.”
