Towards Exceptional Clinical Practice in Dentistry

Under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed Adel Jawad, President of the University of Kalamoon, and in cooperation with Anas & Abboud Dental Supply Companies, the Faculty of Dentistry organized a scientific day entitled “Towards Exceptional Clinical Practice in Dentistry.”

The event was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Fadi Aljoudeh, who expressed his profound gratitude to the University and its management for their unwavering support, which serves as a cornerstone in advancing the academic mission across all faculties. Dr. Aljoudeh welcomed the honorable attendees and announced the commencement of a scientific day packed with a series of specialized lectures.

The lectures were delivered by an elite group of highly experienced and skilled dental professionals, most notably:

  Prof. Dr. Omar Heshmeh, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University, presented a lecture titled: “Benign Cystic Lesions of the Jaws.”

    Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Na’ssani, Vice President of Aleppo University for Scientific Affairs, presented a lecture titled: “The Effect of Different Dentin Caries Layers and Ribbond Fibers on the Marginal Seal of Composite Restorations.”

    Prof. Dr. Shaza Qanout, Secretary of the Syrian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry, presented a lecture titled: “Fundamentals of Porcelain Laminate Veneer Preparation.”

    Prof. Dr. Nabil Qushaji, Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, presented a lecture titled: “Histological Analysis: A Luxury or a Duty?”

    Prof. Dr. Yasser Rashidat, Vice President of the Syrian Association of Orthodontics, presented a lecture titled: “Body Posture and Dentistry.”

    Dr. Mazen Murad, Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Supervisor of Composite Applications at the National Dental Center (NDC), presented a lecture titled: “A Practical Guide to Composite Restorations (Clinical Cases).”

The scientific lectures concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates to the esteemed lecturers, in recognition of their efforts and active role in elevating the academic standard. The University commended the significant added value each lecture provided, reaffirming its continued support for purposeful scientific activities.

The Internship Exam at the Faculty of Pharmacy in the Presence of Representatives of the Pharmacists Syndicate

The Internship Exam: A Real Step Towards the Professional Field

Within the framework of  Kalamoon University’s ongoing endeavor to transform theoretical knowledge into established practical skills, and stemming from its belief that a competent pharmacist is not formed in classrooms alone, but in real professional arenas, the Faculty of Pharmacy conducted the Internship Exam for its fifth-year students.

In the presence of:

  • Dr. Ibrahim Ismail, President of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate
  • Dr. Ayman Aboud, President of the Damascus Countryside Pharmacists Syndicate
  • Dr. Talal Ajlouni, Member of the Central Committee of the Pharmacists Syndicate
  • Dr. Nouha Al-Hakim, Member of the Central Committee of the Pharmacists Syndicate

And under the supervision of:

  • Dr. Mohammed Adel Jawad, University President
  • Dr. Sundus Yassin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Head of the Scientific Affairs Council
  • Dr. Nehad Haidar, Vice President for Administrative Affairs

The students underwent evaluation interviews aimed at measuring their professional readiness and their ability to deal with the reality of pharmacy work with confidence and efficiency. This exam formed an important station where practical and professional skills are measured, giving the student a new thrust towards the path of pharmaceutical professionalism, amid precise follow-up and continuous support from the University and the Pharmacists Syndicate.

Following the conclusion of the exam, the guests took a tour inside the faculty’s laboratories, accompanied by the University President and teaching staff members. They viewed the laboratory equipment and the academic environment provided by the Faculty to qualify its students according to the highest standards.

Artificial Intelligence

As part of the Monday Scientific and Cultural Lecture Series, and in light of accelerating technological progress and the dawn of the knowledge age—where national advancement is increasingly measured not merely by information possession, but by its application and utilization—Dr. Ayman Al-Ahmad delivered a scientific lecture titled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications at University of Kalamoon.”

Dr. Al-Ahmad began by analyzing the concept of artificial intelligence, its methodologies, and how its proficiency is measured using the Turing test. He traced the evolution of AI-related concepts over the years and elaborated on its components and benefits. The lecture further explored the uses of AI across various fields of life in general, and specifically within University of Kalamoon, including a detailed presentation of AI applications in all faculties. Challenges and potential risks associated with this technology were also addressed.

Following an interactive session with audience questions and contributions, Dr. Al-Ahmad concluded with a set of valuable recommendations.
