The Future of Software Industry in Syria: Opportunities and Horizons

In our contemporary world where technology permeates every aspect of daily life, and where no sector remains untouched by the influence of software and smart devices—the very backbone connecting all modern systems—the Faculty of Engineering at University of Kalamoon organized a distinguished scientific lecture titled “The Future of Software Industry in Syria: Opportunities and Prospects.”

As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the knowledge of its students and faculty, the event featured Eng. Alaa Al-Mughrabi, former instructor at University of Kalamoon and currently a Lead Cloud Computing Programmer in the Netherlands.

Eng. Al-Mughrabi addressed the challenges and opportunities facing engineers in this rapidly evolving sector, outlining the fundamental skills every engineer should master. He highlighted the competence and ingenuity of Syrian programmers while discussing the obstacles they encounter, emphasizing the importance of integration and enhanced collaboration among programming teams to improve work efficiency.

Towards the conclusion, he explored the significant impact of artificial intelligence on software development and advised students on the necessity of continuous skill development, stressing that success in this field requires adaptability to rapid changes and ongoing learning.

The lecture was held on Monday, September 22, 2025, in the Small Auditorium, attended by Dr. Mustafa Alhazrawi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Amal Almasri, Chief of University Secretariat; along with several faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
